I've always been someone who enjoys greenery around me, especially in my living space. When I was researching different houseplants for my apartment and how to care for them, several friends requested me to share the notes I had compiled.
I created a site using HTML5/CSS3 and JavaScript that outlined the basic care instructions for the common houseplants that we were interested in. It helped us assess if our living space environment was suitable for different plants, and how to care for it.
Next Steps:
I find it hard to find remedies online because it's difficult to describe your plant's condition and other important properties and information that could influence its condition. How do I search "Calathea curled but not crispy leaves, repotted 2 weeks ago and didn't see any root rot, soil is relatively dry, getting bright indirect light, what's wrong?" Most of the time, I end up asking friends who have the same plant for advice.
A potential additional feature is to allow friends to add anecdotal data on how they care for their plants and any tips and tricks they found. They can also add common mistakes, how they were able to recover their plants or methods that they tried that didn't work. A collective plant journal!
